In Star Trek Beyond, the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy, Krall (Idris Elba), who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

A new addition to the cast is the scene-stealing, butt-kicking Jaylah (Sofia Boutella).  And just in time for Halloween, Paramount Home Entertainment has provided a how-to video on how to achieve Jaylah’s look, demonstrated by Makeup Designer Joel Harlow and Lead Makeup Artist Richie Alonzo.

It is eight steps, but you really need to watch the video to get the fine points of how it’s done.

Jaylah Step-by-Step Makeup Tutorial

Step 1: Use Spirit Gum to glue down eyebrows.

Step 2: Apply white cream foundation over the entire face and neck with a makeup sponge. Then set the foundation with colorless finishing powder.

Step 3: Stipple white Aquacolor foundation on top of the white cream to add depth.

Step 4: Align a string from the top of the forehead to the bridge of the nose as a guide to dot a straight line using black eyeliner.  Paint over the dotted line with black Aquacolor paint. Repeat this step to complete the black line work, using the string as a guide for symmetry.

Step 5: Apply purple and black eye shadow. Add the artificial lashes. Use black Aquacolor paint to bring black line work onto the eyelids.

Step 6: Apply beige lip liner and beige lipstick. Finish with an opalescent lip glaze.

Step 7: Lightly contour cheeks and nose with light blue eye shadow.

Step 8: Add a grey, long-haired wig to complete the look.

Star Trek Beyond is now available via Digital HD and takes off on 4K Ultra HD™, Blu-ray™ and Blu-ray 3D™ Combo Packs Nov. 1, 2016.
