Throughout her career, actress Autumn Reeser has had plenty of fabulous roles to play including the ambitious Lizzie Grant on HBO’s hot series Entourage and the over-achieving Taylor Townsend from Fox’s hit series The O.C. And this month, she’s helping us celebrate wedding season with a starring role in Hallmark Channel’s A Country Wedding. I caught up with Reeser for my podcast Whine At 9 to discuss her marital movie and the lessons learned from a film with an important message.

Hallmark Channel’s A Country Wedding Premieres Saturday June 27th 9/8c

After more than a few interviews with actors who’ve starred in Hallmark Channel movies, I’ve learned that there’s typically a lot of fun and mutual respect behind the scenes. This might explain why it’s not uncommon to see actors participate in more than one film for the network. Reeser admits that Hallmark movie-making is fun. “I really love it,” says the actress. Chuckles Reeser, “I think I’ve gotten married now on Hallmark seven times even though it’s just been three movies—because one of the movies was called I Do I Do I Do and it was about a girl living her wedding day over and over and over again.”

This month, Reeser stars in Hallmark Channel’s A Country Wedding opposite Jesse Metcalfe (Desperate Housewives, Dallas). “I think one of the things that people are going to really enjoy about A Country Wedding is that it’s a lot about roots. It’s a lot about ‘hometown’ and staying true to who you are,” says Reeser who plays rancher and horse rescuer Sarah Standor.

A message within A Country Wedding wasn’t lost on Reeser. “It was a really, for me, [an] important time in my life to be filming this movie because so often I play these very glamorous characters. I play women in high-powered situations. I’m in expensive clothing and uncomfortable heels and that can all be really fun too. But this movie came at a really good time for me, because I’m not wearing much makeup. And I’m wearing a lot of stuff that I really loved to wear growing up. Cowboy boots and jeans and it just felt very easy and authentic to me. And it was just a really positive reminder of some of the things that I wanted to add more into my life. So I think that all reflects on the screen. I just felt very, very connected with this character and the situation that she’s in.”

Autumn Reeser credits the movie for helping her make the decision to take it a little slow this summer and enjoy many more outdoor activities with her family. “I’m sort of returning to all of those roots that this character reminded me of.” Reeser loves that she has a career that has allowed her to explore so many different types of people and jobs. In fact, she builds a fence in A Country Wedding. When push comes to shove could she build a fence off screen? Reeser hesitates, but if there was a big push, she believes she probably could rally and make it happen. Maybe that’s why the multi-talented Autumn Reeser keeps snagging all of the good roles—there’s not much she can’t do.
