Craig Morgan, the country singer known for hits such as “That’s What I Love About Sunday” and “Redneck Yacht Club,” suffered a tragic loss this week. Sunday afternoon, Morgan’s 19-year-old son Jerry Greer went missing following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Tennessee. After extensive search efforts, Greer’s body was recovered Monday evening.
The teen was recently featured on an episode of his father’s Outdoor Channel show, Craig Morgan: All Access Outdoors. He is survived by his parents, Morgan and wife Karen Greer, and his siblings—sister Aly and brothers Kyle and Wyatt.
Craig Morgan posted this photo of the family, including Jerry (top right), in March.
A 2016 graduate of Dickson County High School, Jerry planned to play football for Marshall University in the fall.
Morgan’s rep released a statement late Monday night, saying, “It is with deep sadness that I am confirming the passing of Jerry Greer (19)…The family is grateful for the outpouring of support and requests prayers at this time as they privately mourn this terrible loss.”
That support includes a number of the singer’s peers, who reached out to share their sympathy via social media. From Brad Paisley to Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott to The Oak Ridge Boys, Nashville sent love and prayers to the family.
