Prolific singer/songwriter Bob Dylan turns 75 on May 24. And if you’re looking for ways to celebrate the man behind iconic songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “Mr. Tambourine Man,” don’t think twice: Dylan-centric performances are happening around the country tonight. Here are five that can’t be missed.
Dylan Fest
Ryman Auditorium, Nashville, Tennessee
The second night of this two-night show includes tributes from a diverse roster of powerhouse performers, including Emmylou Harris, Jason Isbell, Ann Wilson, Boz Skaggs, Kesha and many more. (Follow us on Instagram @parademagazine for pictures from the event.)
Subterranean 75th Birthday Salute to Bob Dylan
The Village Underground, New York City
Dylan’s own pals planned this killer show. A one-night-only party will include performances from The Kennedys, Happy Traum and The New World Singers. If those names aren’t enough to lure you in, Bob Cohen and Delores Dixon will team up once again 54 years after they were the first performers to record “Blowin’ in the Wind” (before Bob!). There’s also the promise of a very special guest who will join in and play all night.
The 10th Annual Bob Dylan Birthday Bash
Rembrandt’s, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Forty notable local acts will come together to perform classic Dylan cuts at this free, all-ages show, now in its 10th year.
Duluth Does Dylan
Rex Bar, Duluth, Minnesota
Every five years since 2001, musicians in and around Dylan’s birthplace have paid tribute to their most celebrated son by releasing compilation cover albums. Tonight, they’ll toast the latest edition—and its muse—with a birthday bash and album release party.
Bob Dylan On Tour
We can only assume the man himself will take tonight off (or give fans a gift of their own by appearing at one of the shows above), but treat yourself to tickets for his summer tour. Dylan, who will be joined by Mavis Staples, will hit the road starting June 4 in Woodinville, Washington, to support his latest album, Fallen Angels. Tickets are on sale now.
