Early Wednesday morning, Jenny McCarthy tweeted her fans to watch The View, hinting that she might have some big news to share–and did she ever!

“I just got engaged!” McCarthy exclaimed this morning on The View. The 41-year-old pulled her left hand from under the table to show her table mates her new bling and began jumping up and down out of excitement. “It’s a yellow sapphire,” she explained.
McCarthy and her fiance, actor and New Kids on The Block singer Donnie Wahlberg, began dating last summer, and were quick to gush about their relationship. “I think [Donnie] would be an amazing husband!” she said during an appearance on Bethenny Frankel‘s show in November. “So, if he does [propose], yeah, I would sure say yes. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the one proposing!”
And say yes she did. As any engaged or married woman knows, the first question anyone asks when you’re wearing that all-important ring is “how did he propose?” McCarthy tried to hold back tears as she told the story of how her son Evan was in on the surprise last weekend when Wahlberg got down on one knee and popped the question.
When Wahlberg went into another room for a moment, “out came Evan with a card that said ‘will,’ and he handed it to me. And then Evan ran away and he came back with a card that said ‘you,’ and he ran away and I knew what was happening,” McCarthy explained. “The last time, Donnie came out with Evan and Donnie’s shirt said ‘me’ with a question mark, holding a ring.”
The most emotional part of the story came after McCarthy said “yes.” “In that moment Evan yelled ‘I have another dad!’”
After telling the story, McCarthy went on to say “I feel like the luckiest girl in the world,” and right on cue, Wahlberg came on set to surprise her with a big hug and kiss.
It didn’t take long for the ladies to get down to the business of planning her wedding. Barbara Walters got the ball rolling and asked McCarthy if she’s picked a date. ”We don’t know yet,”the former Playmate replied–but the conversation didn’t end there. Walters offered up her apartment for McCarthy and Wahlberg’s ceremony, but added ”on the wedding night, you cannot stay in my apartment.”
