It’s the news Carrie Underwood fans have been waiting to hear. During an online chat yesterday, the seven-time GRAMMY® winner revealed that she’ll release her fifth studio album, Storyteller, on October 23.
She also teased fans with a clip of the album’s lead single, “Smoke Break,” which will hit radio airwaves on August 24. The song is already available for digital download.
While Underwood released two singles off her 2014 Greatest Hits: Decade #1 (the moving “Something in the Water” and number 1 hit “Little Toy Guns”), Storyteller marks her first studio album in three years. During that time, she kept busy touring and giving birth to her first child, Isaiah (with husband Mike Fisher), now six months.
Of her single, Underwood noted that the title isn’t literal. “It’s basically an anthem for every hard-working person. We all wear many hats and are spread thin, so we can all relate to being tired and needing a break. This song is about having that moment to be able to escape from whatever it is that’s stressing you out and have some time for yourself.”
