James March’s 2014 biopic The Theory of Everything tackles the life, love, and physical transformation of world-renowned physicist Stephen Hawking in a way that makes his story utterly accessible in ways many books and documentaries about him may not have. Adapted from Jane Wilde Hawking’s memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, the film balances Hawking’s relationship with his ex-wife against his career path and his diagnosis of motor neuron disease, but it’s always about the humanity and passion that lies within a man that so many people now revere. It’s a beautifully told story that very much deserves its five Academy Award nominations (including Best Picture, Best Actor for Eddie Redmayne, and Best Actress for Felicity Jones).
Parade is excited to premiere this exclusive clip from The Theory of Everything Blu-ray (which arrives in stores now). The clip features Academy Award-nominated star Felicity Jones talking in depth about her transformation to becoming Jane Wilde Hawking in the film. She discusses how important Eddie Redmayne’s work as Stephen Hawking was to her own performance as well as the importance of having Jane Wilde Hawking on set to assist with background information and support when she needed it. We also hear from director James Marsh, who praises Jones’ stunning work, all while we’re treated to some great behind-the-scenes footage from the shooting of the film. It’s a really informative and interesting clip that fans of The Theory of Everything will adore.
