Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day might have a rather long title, but it’s actually a really cute, entertaining movie that clocks in at less than an hour-and-a-half long. Based on the classic 1972 children’s book of the same name by Judith Viorst, the film follows 11-year-old Alexander Cooper (played by Ed Oxenbould) on what can only be described as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day indeed. It’s the day before his twelfth birthday, to be exact, and things just aren’t going right for the kid. Fortunately for us, they are going hilariously wrong. Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner bring a nice sense of levity to the film and Arteta’s direction is more subtle than the movie’s poster might have you expect. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a nice little surprise of a film that the whole family can enjoy.

Parade is excited to premiere this exclusive clip from the Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Blu-ray (which arrives in stores on February 10). The clip features stars Jennifer Garner, Steve Carell, and Bella Thorne discussing how integral Ed Oxenbould’s performance as Alexander is to the success of the film as a whole. Bella Thorne even notes how great of a coincidence it is that the character’s obsession with Australian culture fits rather well with the fact that Oxenbould is, in fact, from Australia himself (hence the reason we’re premiering this clip on Australian Day). Finally, we hear director Miguel Arteta describe how he came to cast the young actor while we’re treated to some great behind-the-scenes footage from the set of the film. Cool stuff!

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day arrives on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD & Disney Movies Anywhere on February 10.
