20 million people around the globe watched the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards last night. There were moving heartfelt speeches, a whole lot of laughs and some silly episodes (did someone say photobombing hijinks?) These are some of our favorite moments.
Golden Globe Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and their killer opening monologue:
”’Boyhood’ proves that there are still great roles for women over 40, as long as you get hired when you’re under 40,”

George Clooney accepting the Cecil B. DeMille Award for Lifetime Achievement:
“Thank you for keeping small films alive. Big ones do fine. It’s the little ones that need an audience…80 percent of the people in this room don’t win…For the record, if you are in this room, you’ve caught the brass ring. You get to do what you’ve always dreamed to do and be celebrated for it, and that just… it ain’t losing. I don’t remember what awards Lauren Bacall won. I just remember her saying, ‘You know how to whistle, Steve? You just put your lips together and blow.’ And I have no idea what kind of hardware Robin Williams took home. But I sure remember “carpe diem” and, ‘Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.’ I’ll never forget that.”

Julianne Moore receiving a Best Actress in a Motion Picture, Drama award for her role in Still Alice:
””When Lisa Genova wrote this book, she told me that no one wanted to make it into a movie because no one wanted to see a movie about a middle-aged woman.” Moore also said her mother told her, “a happy person is someone who has work and love”

Michael Keaton winning a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Comedy for Birdman:
“I have six wonderful brothers and sisters. I have some tremendous, tremendous and loving generous friends all over the world. My best friend is kind, intelligent, funny, talented, considerate, thoughtful. Did I say “kind”? He also happens to be my son, Sean. I love you with all my heart, buddy…. Shoot, two things I said I wasn’t going to do: cry and give air quotes.”
