If I had paid attention to the apostrophe, I wouldn’t have been caught off guard by Hallmark Channel’s Original Movie My Boyfriends’ Dogs. Premiering Saturday, October 18th, 9/8c, My Boyfriends’ Dogs, starring Erika Christensen (Parenthood) tackles the important question–What happens if a batch of boyfriends aren’t as lovable as their canine companions? The movie unleashes the powerful combination of adorable canines, universally relatable themes, and a winning cast.

Bailey Daley (played by Christensen) is the custodial “parent” of three dogs from three different relationships. After bolting from the altar (with pups in tow) into the stormy night, she later finds shelter in a diner owned by Louie (Michael Kopsa) and Nikki (Joyce DeWitt). Clad in a rain-drenched gown, the dog lover shares her unusual tale with the understanding duo.

Like Runaway Bride with pups and no horse, My Boyfriends’ Dogs is delightful. Christensen portrays an extremely likable character. You could have coffee with Bailey and be her BFF– although a few of us might be inclined to scream “Are you crazy? He’s a jerk.”

As always, The Hallmark Channel offers family-driven programming with important life lessons, and My Boyfriends’ Dogs is no exception.

  • Pay attention to red flags in relationships.
  • You shouldn’t always come second in a partnership.
  • Don’t continually justify the bad behavior of others.
  • Don’t become something you don’t believe in just to impress another person.
  • Listen to your mother if she is wise.

My Boyfriends’ Dogs is a sweet film that seems to channel the best of its cast and crew. The Hallmark Channel’s perfectionism on the set is something that is often noted by those in the industry. Says Joyce DeWitt, “There was nothing about that film that wasn’t perfect. I loved the part. I loved the script. I loved the actors I worked with. I loved the director.” I bet even the dogs are hoping for a sequel on this one.
