After the winners are revealed at this Sunday’s 89th Academy Awards, 1,500 guests (including winners, nominees, presenters and other Hollywood glitterati) will celebrate at the Oscars Governors Ball in the Ray Dolby Ballroom at Hollywood & Highland (a short stroll from the awards telecast).
It’s as lavish a soiree you might expect. We got a sneak preview of what Academy governor Jeffrey Kurland, event producer Cheryl Cecchetto and celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck have in store for guests, starting with an uber-chic setting of white, red and gold (Oscar gold, that is). Click through to see what they’ll sip, nibble and see.

The Sips
The libations will flow on Sunday evening, including specialty cocktails and 1,400 bottles of Piper-Heidsieck Cuvee Brut. (You can serve The Lodge Cocktail and the Circoc French 75 at home.)

The Nibbles
Puck's crackerjack team is catering the Governors Ball for the 23rd consecutive year. The menu is luxurious, to be sure, with upscale ingredients like lobster, Wagyu beef, black truffles and gold dust. (Try a taste at home with Puck's recipes for Baked Macaroni and Cheese and Chicken Pot Pie.) But many are familiar dishes with a fancy spin -- like these baby baked potatoes crowned with a generous dollop of caviar.

The Sweets
Guests will have plenty of options to satisfy their sweet tooth, from chocolate bonbons in classic movie-theater flavors (Sour Patch Kids, Red Hots and the like) to a lavish chocolate buffet and more than 7,000 mini chocolate Oscars.

The Flowers
Celebrity floral designer Mark Held, of Mark's Garden, has created arrangements for the Governors Ball for 28 years. This year's flowers will be a sea of elegantly simple monochromatic arrangements of red and white blossoms from all over the world. It's a strategy you can follow at home, says Held. Group similar varieties and colors of flowers, keeping them at the same height.

The Style
Kurland is an Oscar-nominated costume designer (for Bullets Over Broadway) and designed the dapper uniforms that will be worn by the waitstaff.
