Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and what better movie to share with your sweetie than one picked among five most romantic movies of all time by the American Film Institute—An Affair to Remember.
Starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr, the movie tells the story of playboy Nickie Ferrante (Grant) and nightclub singer Terry McKay (Kerr) who meet while traveling from Europe to New York on an ocean liner. As happens in many romantic stories, at first, they don’t get along, but after a few days, they fall in love.
The problem is that they are both involved with other people. So they agree to meet each other six months later at the top of the Empire State Building. Sound familiar?
This film was the inspiration for the hit movie Sleepless in Seattle, starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.
While they agree to meet, of course, there are challenges and misunderstandings that threaten to keep them apart. Considering that this was deemed one of the most romantic movies, you can probably guess what happens at the end.
