Carole King, whose life story is the subject of the Broadway musical Beautiful, which won a Grammy Award as Best Musical Theater Album in 2015 and is still going strong, has put her 128-acre ranch, which she has owned for more than 30 years, up for sale.
According to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the property, originally listed at $16 million, is now available for purchase for a cool $9.9 million.
Located near Sun Valley, Idaho, the remote ranch is surrounded by national forest lands, which provide mountain, forest, creek and river views.
The main residence has views overlooking the ranch and the lodge has an additional five bedrooms and three baths with two stone fireplaces and a commercial kitchen. In addition, there are eight guest log cabins for visiting family and friends.
Hot water and heat for certain structures is provided via the thermal springs that hold a 135-degree temperature year round. Thermal pools for outdoor soaks maintain 108-degrees with a unique “cave” bath house excavated into the side of a mountain where one can shower among boulders.
The horse stable is new and accommodations for livestock include six stalls and frost-free water.
And, of course, this being the home of the songwriter of such hits as “Will You Love Me Tomorrow,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” and “It’s Too Late,” the property also features a free-standing professional recording studio with a guest apartment above.
