Happy birthday, Ed Asner! The television legend turns 87 on November 15, 2016.
Asner is best known for playing Lou Grant in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the spin-off drama Lou Grant, and he also earned widespread acclaim for his Emmy-winning performance in ABC’s 1977 miniseries Roots. He has won seven Primetime Emmy awards in total, making him the male actor with the most Primetime Emmy wins in history.

Asner is also a prolific voice actor, voicing the curmudgeonly Carl Fredricksen in Disney-Pixar’s Up and lending vocals to dozens of animated series and video games.
