After almost three years of marriage, Sherri Shepherd‘s husband Lamar Sally has filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. According to public records, Sally filed for divorce on May 2 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Shepherd, 47, and Sally, 43, wed on Aug. 13, 2011, at the Fairmont Hotel in Chicago. They have no children together, but Shepherd is mom to 9-year-old son Jeffrey from her first marriage.
“I was great with Jeffrey,” Sally recently told Radar, adding that he missed Jeffrey. “He was in my life for four years.”
The actress and View host said last summer that she and Sally were planning on adding to their family and had found a surrogate. In April, Shepherd opened up to Parade about the experience.
“The fertility process is a difficult journey, but I’ve got a great mate who’s really passionate. It’s exciting and scary, but we’re ready. Jeffrey will love being a big brother—until the baby poops!” she said.
She also talked about the role faith plays in her life, telling Parade: “My faith in God is who I am. When my son was born at 25 weeks, it was my faith in that got me through it. My sitcom had gotten cancelled, I was unemployed, I was going through a divorce because of marital infidelity, I was losing my house, and then I got a baby with special needs, and it literally was my faith of God that got me through. And then this call came in from Barbara Walters. If that ain’t God… That’s my faith. And do I shy away from it? Absolutely not.”
