Sisaundra Lewis blew away all four judges with her powerhouse performances week after week on The Voice, and Usher even told her, “You are our teacher, even as experienced as we are.”
However, the competition is more brutal than ever on The Voice, and this week three singers, including Sisaundra, were sent home.
Sisaundra spoke via email with Parade.com about how she’s coping after her elimination, her favorite things about Blake as a coach, and her post-Voice plans.
How are you doing after Tuesday’s show? Were you surprised to end up in the bottom four?
“I am doing well after Tuesday’s results show. With the possibility of three people going home, you always have to prepare yourself that you may be one of those three, and so I made sure my save song was ready to go and I was ready to give it my all. After that, it’s all about Twitter.”
Did Blake have any words of encouragement or advice after the elimination?
“I did not have the opportunity to speak to Blake in detail but he did say to me briefly, ‘I will see you around,’ and that made me feel like there’s a future for us to do some wonderful things together!”
What was your favorite thing about Blake as a coach?
“My favorite thing about Blake as my coach was his genuine personality, his transparency, his wit, and his brilliance when it comes down to performing and [delivery] of a song.”
What have you been hearing from your fans since the elimination?
“My fans are definitely in shock and quite disappointed with the outcome but very supportive of my vocal gift and encouraging for the future of my career.”
Looking at the top five now, who do you think are some of the top contenders?
“Looking at the top five, it’s very hard to determine who are the top contenders. If we go by social media support, then I think we all know who will be the top contenders.”
What’s next for you?
“What’s next for me is taking a couple of days off to relax with my children, say hello to my fans face-to-face, [and] return to L.A. for the epic finale on The Voice, and then going into the studio and starting to record my new CD.”
