Happy birthday, Colin Firth! The British actor turns 56 on September 10, 2016.
The Oscar-winning actor has appeared in dozens of acclaimed films, including The English Patient, A Single Man and the spy comedy Kingsman: The Secret Service.
He began his film career in the ‘80s, but it was his role as the enigmatic Mr. Darcy in the BBC’s 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice that brought him widespread fame and launched him to romantic idol status.
Firth played off that on-screen persona in the subsequent Bridget Jones’s Diary and its sequel, and he’s set to reprise the role of Mr. (Mark) Darcy one more time in the third installment of the Bridget Jones series, Bridget Jones’s Baby, in theaters September 16.

I know I seems an insane person - because I hardly knows you - but sometimes things are so transparency, they don't need evidential proof. And I will inhabit here, or you can inhabit with me in England...Of course I don’t expecting you to be as foolish as me, and of course I prediction you say ‘no,’ but it’s Christmas and I just wanted to...check.”

“Bridget Jones, will you marry me?”
—Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason

“As a child I was given good principles, but was left to follow them in pride and conceit. And such I might still have been, but for you. Dearest, loveliest Elizabeth!”

Lily: Papa, do you love Evangeline?
Mr. Brown (Firth): What are you saying? That- that would be totally improper. I mean a thing like that could- could never happen. I mean, obviously... yes.
—Nanny McPhee

Vermeer (Firth): Look at the clouds. What color are they?
Griet: White. No. No, not white. Yellow. Blue and grey. There are colors in the clouds.
