The final five acts moving on to the finale of America’s Got Talent were announced on Wednesday night’s results show and there were a few surprises because the performances on Tuesday night’s semi-finals were outstanding.

“I think what’s interesting on this show is people react to the performances on the night,” judge Simon Cowell told Parade.com. “Certain people you may have thought wouldn’t step up or would run out of steam, like Sofie Dossi were incredible. It was like watching the Olympics. I don’t know what’s going to happen. There are going to be some people who are going to lose that I am going to be sad about.”

“It’s so hard because you get emotionally attached to these people because you see them so many times,” Heidi Klum added. “I remember when I saw them for the very first time and now we’re here so many weeks later.”

Heidi did share some of her favorites with us, which included Jayna Brown, Brian Justin Crum and Sofie.

So how good was she at predicting? Let’s find out.

Of course, the night began with host Nick Cannon announcing the three acts who needed to be voted on by America in the Dunkin’ Donuts Live Save. They were the aforementioned Sofie, Rubik’s Cube magician Steven Brundage and juggler Viktor Kee.

While those three awaited their fate, The Clairvoyants, Kadan Bart Rockett and The Passing Zone were called to the stage. Kadan and his sister Brooklyn had had some difficulty with his act on Tuesday night, so it wasn’t a surprise to learn he wasn’t going through, but The Passing Zone had killed it when they set Simon on fire. Still, it wasn’t enough to save them and The Clairvoyants were announced as moving on to the finals.

“We wanted to do something different,” Thommy Ten told Parade.com. “We wanted to bring the judges back some nice memories and that was our inspiration.”

While his partner Amélie van Tass, added, “We wanted to bring them closer to us and to experience these moments in their own bodies. Bringing them on stage created a very intimate moment. I think it was magical for them, and that’s what makes us happy.”

Now that The Clairvoyants have made it through, they plan to sit down on Thursday and come up with their plan for next Tuesday’s final performance.

Then it was time for the singers to get their results as Kadie Lynn, Brian and Calysta Bevier headed for the spotlight. Any of three were good enough to go through but it was Brian who got America’s vote.

For next week’s finale, Brian is planning something special. He won’t reveal which song he is going to sing, but he says, “I don’t sing songs that don’t mean anything to me. I want everything that I’m saying to mean something to me, so this next song, it definitely means a lot to me, and we are going to strip it down and make it really raw.”

Then it was Linkin’ Bridge going head-to-head with Jayna, and despite Jayna being one of Heidi’s picks, it is the four guys from Louisville headed to the finale.

“We came from deep down in our souls and put a little more work in this time,” they said when asked what was different about their performance this week. For the finals, they said they will be picking from a list of songs that they love.

Then it was time to get the results of the Live Vote. The top vote getter was Sofie, so she is moving on for sure.

For the second spot, the judges were split on their choice. Heidi and Howie Mandel picked Viktor; Simon and Mel B went with Steve, which meant that the choice went back to America, who had voted Viktor into the second slot.

“The semi-final performance was especially designed as a fairy tale in a fantasy style to dedicate to children to find the light within themselves,” Viktor told Parade.com “The next one will be about me, about who I am, where I come from, and my soul as a performer.”

This week’s five join crooner Sal Valentinetti, opera singer Laura Bretan, singer and ukulele player Grace Vanderwaal, magician and NFL star Jon Dorenbos and mime Tape Face in the finale.

America’s Got Talent returns next Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC for the final night of performances from which the winner will be picked.
