CBS is making an investigation into one of the highest-profile unsolved murders in modern history when it takes a look at The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey, a six-hour docuseries that will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 18.

Initially, it looked like a kidnapping when early in the morning of Dec. 26, 1996, Patsy and John Ramsey phoned into 911. Patsy told the operator, “We have a kidnapping. Hurry, please. There’s a note left and our daughter’s gone. She’s 6 years old. She’s blonde.”

That 911 call was the beginning of a murder investigation when JonBenét‘s body was later discovered strangled to death in the basement of the family’s home in Boulder, Colorado. No one was ever charged with the murder.

Now, 20 years later, the original investigators including former New York City prosecutor, retired FBI supervisory special agent and profiler Jim Clemente; world-renowned forensic scientist Dr. Henry Lee; former chief investigator for the District Attorney in Boulder, Colorado, James Kolar; leading forensic pathologist Dr. Werner Spitz; and retired FBI supervisory special agent and forensic linguistic profiler James Fitzgerald will re-examine the case for this CBS docuseries.

Joining them will be new experts, including former New Scotland Yard criminal behavioral analyst Laura Richards and retired FBI supervisory special agent and statement analyst Stan Burke.

The scope of the investigation includes re-examining crucial evidence using advanced technology and forensics, meticulously recreating the crime scene by rebuilding full-scale replicas of key rooms from the Ramsey house, conducting extensive interviews and introducing new theories.

The Case of: JonBenét Ramsey is from Critical Content  and Emmy‑award winning executive producer Tom Foreman. Night one premieres Sunday, Sept. 18 on CBS.
