Gilmore Girls fan alert! The wait will soon be over. All four parts of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be released on November 25 on Netflix, it was announced today, so it’s something extra to be thankful for this coming upcoming holiday season.

All the key stars will be returning  to revisit their original roles with Lauren Graham back as Lorelai Gilmore, Alexis Bledel reprising Rory Gilmore, and Scott Patterson returning as Luke Danes.

“It was literally like no time had passed,” Graham told reporters at the Television Critics Association press conference for the hit series. “It was easy and joyous. It was exhilarating. It was the old show. There was no sense of having to resuscitate something. The dialogue is my favorite thing to do. It is different language entirely than on Parenthood, so it brought me back to the first time I read it. Such a perfect fit. I couldn’t believe I got to do it again.”

Even Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy will be reprising her role as Sookie St. James on the reboot as she managed to squeeze time into her busy schedule just as filming was wrapping up.

“We always knew among us that we were going to figure it out,” series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino said. “But it took on this whole life of its own. Everybody wants everyone to hate each other. They want cage fights at the Democratic convention. It got this weird sheen on it.”

“Melissa came on one of our last days,” Graham adds. “Had that not happened, we would have felt a gap in what we were trying to do. She came near the end and we had an incredible time. It was perfect.”

Stars Hollows will look a little different than in the original, because when the series ended, the sets weren’t saved and it was repurposed to film Pretty Little Liars, so it needed to be recreated. But time has passed so the town would have changed in the natural process of life.

One of those changes is Rory is a young woman now, a college graduate with a career. Another that was mandated by the the death of Edward Hermann, who played Lorelai’s dad, will be the loss of Richard Gilmore.

“In the wake of losing Ed, which is still a great loss for us personally, it was part of our story that we are telling,” Graham says. “How everyone is recovering. That gave the show a depth and emotional complexity. I mention that because it plays into what all the characters are facing. In view of that, Lorelai makes some decisions.”

For fans interested in who Rory ended up with, they will have to wait and see. All Bledel was allowed to say is that all of Rory’s boyfriends will be back: Matt Czuchry as Logan Huntzberger, Jared Padalecki as Dean Forester and Milo Ventimiglia as Jess Mariano.

“I think it is interesting that is what people are excited about,” Bledel said. “There is so much more to her character. It is great when people focus on her ambition and accomplishments.”
