George Lopez joins Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel for tonight’s episode of America’s Got Talent when the judges will continue to cut down the number of acts to a total of 36 for the live shows, which is when America will get to vote for its favorites.
That means that only seven of the 20 or so acts performing tonight will make it through. But guest judge Lopez will have control of the Golden Buzzer, which means that if there is an act he falls in love with, he can press the buzzer and they immediately go through to the live shows. They don’t have to go through the judges’ elimination process.
But first, check out Parade.com’s exclusive clip from tonight’s episode showing Daniel and Alla, a dance team compromised of a 32-year-old mother and her 8-year-old son, as they show their best moves in order to convince the judges to put them through.
To date, the Golden Buzzer acts include Mel B.’s choice: Laura Bretan, the 13-year-old opera singer from Chicago; Mandel’s pick: 12-year-old ukulele player Grace VanderWaal; Cowell’s selection: 16-year-old singer/cancer survivor Calysta Bevier; and Klum’s button push for singer Sal Valentinetti, a 20-year-old pizza delivery guy from Long Island.
Also going directly to the live shows are 90-year-old Dorothy Williams from Hawaii, who was put through by host Nick Canon after watching her strip tease; guest judge Ne-Yo put through Philadelphia Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos, who charmed the rapper with his magic tricks; and Reba McEntire‘s pick: Sofie Dossi, a 14-year-old contortionist.
Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC as the judges continue winnowing down the acts. Then the live shows begin on Monday, July 26.
