Fans of Syfy’s series Dark Matter were happy to see the show return for Season 2 last week though our numbered team found themselves prisoners on the Hyperion-8 Maximum Security Galactic Detention Facility.
Created by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie. Dark Matter follows the crew of the spaceship Raza. The crew awakens with no memories of who they are or how they got there. Facing threats at every turn, they have to work together to survive a voyage fueled by vengeance, betrayal and hidden secrets.
For those new to the show, the crew identifies themselves in the order that they awoke from their slumber as they have no memory of their name or true identity. Are they criminals or law enforcement? There’s One (Marc Bendavid) who fashions himself a leader while Two (Melissa O’Neil) seems to be the true leader of the bunch. Three (Anthony Lemke) is the enforcer of the group, who would rather punch first and ask questions later. Four (Alex Mallari Jr.) is the stoic, quiet one with few words to say and in the first season we find out he is royalty suspected of murdering his father. Five (Jodelle Ferland) is the young stowaway and thief while Six (Roger Cross) has the brains and brawn. They are assisted by The Android (Zoie Palmer).
Now imprisoned in Hyperion-8, the crew must negotiate attempted assassinations, extraditions and behind-the-scenes machinations as they plot their escape. This season finds the crew of the Raza embroiled in an intergalactic conspiracy, seeking a mysterious device that may hold the key to victory in a looming all-out corporate war.
