She may have been more than 10 years past the average age, but Lady Gaga’s recent milestone proves that there is no expiration date for tackling many of life’s projects. Snagging her driver’s license at the age of 30, the artist and advocate was all smiles as she shared her story on social media.
Social comparison can often lead people to dismiss their desires, projects and goals when their age seems to veer from the norm. But deferring a personal deadline because you have passed the mean age doesn’t mean that you can’t successfully revisit the task at hand.
Grab some Lady Gaga attitude and tackle one of those things you’ve been meaning to do. Walking into the classroom of twenty-somethings may make you the oldest person in the room, but you could also be the wisest. Donning braces might make you feel like a middle school kid, but your compliance levels will likely outshine those of the youngsters. Like Gaga, find humor in the glaring age issue and satisfaction in gaining knowledge, skills, and positive closure.
Learning and task closure can offer a positive jolt to your self-esteem. And that’s worth celebrating at any age.
