Infographic: The Hidden Truth About Added Sugar

On the heels of the FDA’s recent announcement that they will change the way “added sugars” are listed on nutrition labels, we started wondering: How much added sugar are we really eating?

Luckily, the folks at ShopWell, a nutrition app, were wondering the same. They collected data from 1,000 shoppers and more than 100,000 grocery items purchased around the country to analyze the amount and source of added sugar at the check-out line. They discovered that 89 percent of Americans consume too much added sugar and that most have consumed their daily recommended intake by the end of breakfast.
