Do two or more readers ever independently send you the same question at the same time, or nearly so? If so, do you ever publish such questions? If they’re published, how do you determine which person gets credit for asking the question? If there are such situations, I think it would be best to credit all of the readers who submitted the question.
Marilyn responds:
When readers submit the same question before I’ve decided to respond, I will usually choose the reader who included his or her full name, city, and state. If all of those facts were included, I will choose the question that was more interesting to read. (They vary a great deal.) And if the questions read similarly, I will typically choose the one that arrived first.
