One comment regarding the question about the reason one should not use compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) in enclosed fixtures. You explained that the notice is not about overheating the fixture but about overheating the CFL itself. (November 15, 2015) One big problem is the electronic circuitry contained in every CFL: Heat can shorten the lifetime of this circuitry. When the circuit dies, so does the lamp. Ordinary incandescent lamps have no circuitry so they can run hot with much less trouble.
