We all know that Earth spins on its axis. If I were standing directly on one of the poles, would I spin too?

—H.Y., Plano, Texas

Yes. But you’d feel the same way you would feel standing anywhere else. As the landscape would be rotating with you, your environment would be stationary (relative to you) and you would notice only the apparent motion of the sun in the sky, the same as you would at every other location on the planet. Not that this would look exactly normal! At the South Pole, for example, the sun remains above the horizon for six months in a row (September through March), appearing to travel in a low, horizontal circle during each 24-hour period.
