August 26 is National Dog Day. And as of last count 3,784,140 people posted #nationaldogday photos of four-legged friends on Instagram alone. Animal advocate Colleen Paige founded the day to promote awareness of the need to rescue pups. “Millions of dogs are killed each year because they’re simply unwanted…,” says Paige. “Dogs are amazing, courageous, sensitive and sentient beings that deserve compassion and respect. Please consider bringing what was once considered ‘unwanted love’ into your heart and home on National Dog Day!”
On National Dog Day famous folks took the opportunity to share loads of love for their top dogs.
